Getting Started

Charge

Connect to micro-USB, 40 minutes.

It takes approximately 40-60 minutes to fully charge the battery. 

We recommend leaving it plugged in overnight.

Flashing LED light means OrCam MyMe is charging.

The battery is fully charged when the LED light stops flashing. You will get a push notification in the app.  

 

On a full charge OrCam MyMe lasts between 7-8 hours.

Battery percentage is displayed inside the OrCam MyMe icon within the app.

Pair

Go to the App Store, search “OrCam MyMe” and download the app.

 

The on/off button is on top of the device. It is the only button.

To turn the device on: Hold down the button on OrCam MyMe.

      The device beeps when it turns on. 

       LED will appear.

To turn the device off: Hold button on OrCam MyMe for five seconds.

You will receive a notification in the application: “MyMe Connected”

OrCam MyMe icon will display a green dot and battery percentage.

Go to Settings > MyMe > Forget Paired MyMe.

 
 

Wear

OrCam MyMe can be secured either with a clip or with a strong magnet.

The OrCam MyMe lens is a fish eye and observes a wide angle. 

You need to confirm that the device is facing straight and not looking towards the ground or sky. 

If you wear it on your belt, you will not capture faces.

For best results, wear OrCam MyMe on your shirt, positioning it vertically or horizontally.

Affix it with the metal “U” or using the magnetic clip with the OrCam MyMe out front and the magnet behind one layer of clothing. 

Make sure the lens is facing straight. Not facing up towards the sky or down towards the ground. 

Product

OrCam MyMe is tiny, wearable AI-driven computer vision. OrCam MyMe compromises of a sensor that recognizes faces and tells you who is in front of you, automatically scans business cards and name tags, and connects to OrCam MyMe application to help you effectively network and manage your time. OrCam MyMe gives you a competitive advantage in networking, business, social interactions and time management.

OrCam MyMe main features include face recognition accompanied with real-time push notifications, immediate connection to the social networks of the people that OrCam MyMe recognized, automatic scanning and syncing of business cards and name tags, analysis of how the user allocated their time, measurement of the user’s screen time, as well as setting and tracking the achievement of personal goals.

OrCam MyMe reminds you of people’s names, it can show you what you spent time on, helps you network, and achieve the work-life balance.

Faces need to be “learned” by OrCam MyMe. You can manually add people to your database. OrCam MyMe will not identify people it does not “know”.

 

1 – 3 meters or about 3-10 feet.

When you charge OrCam MyMe it automatically checks for new software updates.

You must be connected to the WiFi from within the OrCam MyMe app to receive software updates.

You can update your OrCam MyMe software by checking for updates in OrCam MyMe app.

Go to Settings > Software Update, then, if an update is available, tap Download and Install.

Confirm you are connected to the WiFi from within OrCam MyMe app.

A soft cloth or tissue is ideal for wiping down OrCam MyMe product, specifically the sensor.

Do not use water, as OrCam MyMe is not water resistant. 

We don’t recommend using OrCam MyMe in wet environmental conditions. It is not water resistant. 

The device passed successfully series of tests which simulated light rain ( volume of water: 350mm/hr, Exposure of no more than 10 minutes).

Green – OrCam MyMe is on and working 

Blue – OrCam MyMe is on and connected to your phone.

Yellow – OrCam MyMe is starting up

Mobile App

Calendar

To delete a meeting with someone, long press on their thumbnail image in the Calendar, then select Delete Meeting.

 

OrCam MyMe Calendar is only compatible with the main calendar app on your phone. 

All changes must be done on your phone calendar. Any changes completed on phone calendar will then sync and update on OrCam MyMe Calendar. 

Managing Contacts

Go to People screen > Unrecognized. 

Select Add next to thumbnail image. 

Add appropriate information. 

 

1. To delete a contact, go to the People screen.

2. Select Contacts tab, find the name of the person you would like to delete.

3. Swipe left on their name, and press Delete. Confirm that you would like to delete the contact

1. Go to People screen and click on the contact you wish to edit.

2. Press Edit in the upper right corner of the screen. Fill in the information you wish to include: name, company, phone number, email, social media, etc.

3. To add this individual to a group, select Add next to the word Group on their contact page.

To remove a person, simply swipe left on their name or image from the list of contacts and select Delete.

If the MyMe improperly tags an individual, press down on the contact bubble and select “This isn’t …”

You can also delete a meeting by pressing down on the contact bubble and select Delete.

1. Go to Contact Profile. 

2. Scroll down and press (+) next to the word Icebreaker to add a new note.

1. Go to People screen, Select a Contact.

2. On contacts profile page select the business card icon.

Select Add Business Card.

3. Align OrCam MyMe with the business card and press the button on device to capture. 

They are notes you want to be reminded about the next time you see a specific person. 

Add fun facts, reminders, and notes – the perfect conversation starter!

When OrCam MyMe sees a face you will be reminded of these icebreakers. 

Creating Groups

1. People screen > Select Groups tab and press New on the upper right corner of the screen.

2. Select the contacts names or old groups you wish to include 

3. Once contacts are selected, tap Done.

4. Type in the name of your new group in the available box.

1. Go to People feature and select Contacts tab.

2. Click a person you want to add to the new group.

3. When you are under their contact profile, scroll down to Groups

  •  If they are already in Groups, select See All. Check off the  groups you would like the contact to join.
  • If they are not in Groups, select Add.

With groups you can organize your contacts and better manage your time. You can create a close family group of your parents, siblings, and children. Create an extended family group of your cousins, aunts, and uncles. Create a group of high-end clients. You can create any kind of group you want, set goals, and optimize your life balance.

1. Go to People screen, select Groups tab and click on the newly created group title.

2. Next to the word Members, select Add.

3. Select as many members you would like to add.

1. Go to People screen.

2. Select Group and press the group name you want to edit

3. Next to Members, select Add.

4. To remove a member, select the X present on the thumbnail photo. Press Done.

1. Go to People screen and click on the Groups tab.

2. Swipe left on the Group you wish to delete.

3. Press Delete.

1. Go to People screen and tap on Groups tab.

2. Select the name of the group whose name you want to change,

3. In the upper right corner select the three dots next to the MyMe icon.

4. Choose an Option should appear. Select Edit Name. Type a new name and press Done.

There are two ways to add new members to groups.

1. Go to People screen and press Groups tab.

               – Click on the group names you wish to add members.

 

               – Press Add and select as many contacts you would like                                      

                 to add to the Group.

2. Go to People screen and press Contacts tab.

                – Under Contacts tab, click a person you want to add to 

                   the new Group.

                – When you are under their contact profile, scroll down 

                  and find groups.

                – Next to Groups select Add.

1. Go to People screen.

2. Then click on the Groups tab.

3. Select the name of the group whose color you want to change.

4. Tap the circle above the group name. Select a color.

Me - Optimize your profile and goals

1. Me screen > Select Add Your Profile > Press Take Profile Picture. 

You can take a selfie with your phone or a picture with OrCam MyMe device. Add your relevant information: Name, Company Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and Social Media IDs.

1. Long press on the group bubble of the group you would like to change.

2. From the list of all your groups, select a new group to replace.

If you take your profile image with OrCam MyMe, this teaches OrCam MyMe who the owner of the device is. 

No notifications will be sent when OrCam MyMe recognizes the face in the profile image.

The group Other cannot be removed from the Me screen. 

The individuals in Other are individuals who are not included in your comparison groups on the Me screen.

If you long press on the Other group bubble, you will see a list of individuals and how much time you spent with each person.

1. Go to Me screen.

2. Short Press on a group bubble you would like to set a goal.

Upper right corner, select Goals.

3. Turn the Goal on. Select the Duration of the Goal (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly). Slide the bar to select a time number of hours. 

Charts - analyze your data

1. In the OrCam MyMe app, go to Chart screen. Press the (+).

2. Select the contact names or groups you wish to compare.

Press Next in the upper right corner.

3. Choose one of the chart types below.

              Line Chart

              Pie Chart

              Stacked Bar Chart

              Histomap Chart

              Leaderboard Chart: 

Compare time spent (hours) amongst the people you spend the most time with.

1.  Go to Chart screen in the app.

2. Short tap on the chart you want to delete.

3. Delete will appear in red. Press Delete.

1.  Go to Chart screen in the app.

2. Short tap on the chart you want to edit. Edit will appear in blue. Press Edit. 

3. You can then add or delete the people or groups you are currently comparing.

4. Press Next to change the type of chart.

Charts cannot be exported and are only available with OrCam MyMe app. 

Using OrCam MyMe

The OrCam MyMe app needs to be open for OrCam MyMe to connect. It can be open in the background.

However, if your phone is not with you or the app is closed, your OrCam MyMe device will still collect data. You will not receive notifications.

OrCam MyMe is not designed to photograph.

You are encouraged to replace the automatic profile images with ones from your photo albums or to snap a new image right from the contact card just by touching the image and selecting the camera option. 

We are in the process of a year of upgrades. We still need permission from platform owners to connect with social media profiles. It is on our roadmap and we will be in touch with updates. 

In low light situations it is harder for OrCam MyMe to recognize people. 

If you are having trouble recognizing everyone, try to adjust the positioning of OrCam MyMe on your clothing. Make sure he lens is facing straight. 

If the camera lens is dirty or its view is obstructed, this will affect performance – clean the lens with a soft cloth to restore normal functioning.

When OrCam MyMe meets someone in person for the first time, it will recognize a new face but will be unable to identify that person. The person will be identified as Unrecognized. 

The first time OrCam MyMe sees a new face there will be no push notification.

In order for OrCam MyMe to learn new people you must add them to your contacts and teach OrCam MyMe who the faces are. 

Adding new people as contacts can be fun. In the app, find their face in the Unrecognized list, press Add. Enter their name. Press Edit. You can even press the  thumbnail image and take a nice photo for them.

The next time you see them, OrCam MyMe will identify them and send a push notification. 

OrCam MyMe has a 5 minute window period. You will be notified after 5 minutes have passed from the last time you saw that person.

Connecting to WiFi from within OrCam MyMe app allows for OrCam MyMe at a to sync and for the user to receive software updates.

The encounters should be longer than a quick hello in passing for facial recognition and push notifications. 

The first time OrCam MyMe recognizes a new face you will not get a notification. You must add the new face to MyMe Contacts. 

OrCam MyMe will only notify you after around 5 minutes have passed since the last time you saw that person or since you added them to your contacts. 

You do not need to press button when capturing a face. Facial recognition occurs automatically. 

Yes, you can connect to your Apple Watch. 

Go to “Watch” app and under notifications (“Mirror iPhone Alerts From:”) and turn on for OrCam MyMe. 

You will only get one notification, to your phone or watch, from an encounter. 

OrCam MyMe app needs to be open in background. Meaning you cannot completely close the app. That is how it is different than WhatsApp. 

When you close the app (swipe out), your OrCam MyMe will disconnect and you will not get notifications. Your device will still gather data just no notifications. 

If it is open in the background, even if you are not on the current app, you will get push notifications. 

Privacy and Data

OrCam MyMe upholds your privacy. The camera is only used for facial recognition and does not record photos and videos. It finds faces and computes a signature that is compared each time.

The companion app shows a blurred image as a face thumbnail so that the user’s acquaintances can be tagged.

Data is not collected by OrCam and is only for your own personal use– stored within OrCam MyMe device. Your data is yours and is not shared with anyone.

Your data is saved in the MyMe and not the phone app. You can switch between phones and maintain your data. Backup your data before switching phones to ensure your MyMe has the most recent data saved. 

OrCam MyMe is for the sole personal use of the user and is GDPR compliant.

All data is encrypted. OrCam does not collect data and the data is not accessible to OrCam.

The metadata (name, notes, etc.) is stored on the OrCam MyMe and on the users phone.

MyMe does not record and always respects your privacy.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble recognizing everyone, try to adjust the positioning of OrCam MyMe on your clothing.

If the camera lens is dirty or its view is obstructed, this will affect performance – clean the lens with a soft cloth to restore normal functioning.

In low light situations it is harder for OrCam MyMe to recognize people.

Make sure OrCam MyMe sensor is not covered by a jacket, clothing, purse, or hair.

Be sure to clean the sensor lens. Use a soft cloth or tissue to clean the lens. Avoid using water or other substances.

If your notifications are not working:

       1. Go to Settings in your phone, select the MyMe 

           application, and turn on Allow Notifications.

If you are still not receiving notifications: 

       1. Within the MyMe app, go to Settings.

       2. Tap on Notifications.

       3. Make sure Contact Recognition Notification is turned on.

1. Go to settings, select MyMe.

2. Select Disconnect.

You can now pair OrCam MyMe to a new phone. Just use the same phone number and/or emailed tied to the original account.

 

If you get a new phone number and would like to change the phone number registered to your MyMe account, please contact myme@orcam.com .

You must email support. This cannot be done from within the MyMe app.

 

If “Can’t Find MyMe” appears, make sure OrCam MyMe is turned on. Confirm the LED light is green and OrCam MyMe is close to your phone. If LED light isn’t green, turn on OrCam MyMe again and wait for it to boot. Then press the button above the sensor on the OrCam MyMe to pair.

If you receive the message “Phone Bluetooth Disconnected: it seems like your phone’s Bluetooth is off, or an error occurred. Try toggling the Bluetooth off and on again from the phone settings” go to settings in your phone and turn on your Bluetooth. 

1. In the Calendar screen, press and hold the mis-identified face. A message will pop up from the bottom.

2. Choose: “This Is Not…”.

If you correct it, MyMe is not likely to repeat that mistake again.
